Bio: I was a Performing Arts Major, Photo Minor at Savannah College of Art and Design, didn’t much like the scene there, so I applied to OCU and got an acting scholarship, then decided I needed a “backup plan” while pursuing a career as an actress. So now I’m a double major in Photography and Graphic Design. I’m really just all about the creation of art. I see modeling as a way to create.

How old were you when you decided to become a model? Throughout high school, people were always telling me that I needed to model, but living in Texarkana, TX I didn’t really have any opportunities to do so. When I started college, photo majors would ask me to model and that’s how I got my port started. However, I have always wanted to pursue film acting, and for me, modeling is a way to get my face out there and capture emotion, just as in film.

What is your goal as a model? I really just want to be a part of creating art. I want to help create images that people are completely captivated by. I want to provide something unique, and I think my background as an actress allows me to really delve into the character that I’m portraying in a photo as opposed to just trying to look pretty. I think there’s a huge misconception that modeling is just about being attractive, when really it’s about what your energy and presence brings to the photo.

So far what has been the highlight of your modeling career? Having people recognize me from my ad in Savannah Connect and my performance as an extra on the promo for the Style Network series “Ruby”. Got to meet her on set by the way, and she’s a real sweetheart!

Any horror stories about modeling you want to share? Luckily I haven’t had any experiences I would classify as a “horror story.”

Any Advice you want to share with inspiring models you want to share? It’s all about the work you’re willing to put in. It takes determination, long hours, and being choosy of who you decide to work with. As a model, you have to be able to trust the photographers you work with to only put out the best images of you. Afterall, those images are what propel your career.

Any horror stories about modeling you want to share? A perverted photographer, un-named, was unprofessional and too sexual, asking me to do things I didn’t want to do. He also promised me a cd of pics and copy of the shoot/interview video which I never received.

Any Advice you want to share with inspiring models? Always make sure people are legit and honest before you work with them. Don’t do anything you don’t want to do. Always have some kind of escort with you at shoots. Get an agent as fast as possible and don’t stop going until you have reached your goal! Always stay in shape because you never know what modeling event is coming up. Keep your confidence on full-blast at all times! Have fun with your work and collaborate with the photographer on what goal is needing accomplished.

So far what has been the highlight of your modeling career? Modeling in a couture show for the Queen of Bahrain, doing couture shows for nyc fashion week! Oh, it was also cool when a friend called me and told me I was on the cover of a local magazine, I didn’t even know! hahaha.

Any horror stories about modeling you want to share? Not horror stories but more of advice for any model moving to new york. DON’T LOSE YOURSELF/YOUR GOALS AND REASON FOR BEING THERE. There is a glamorous life that exists there and it is insanely exciting and jaw dropping that you could be a part of it. But I saw in many of my friends that they disregarded their morals and beliefs and became fractions of the people they were. I can tell you the ones that became successful are the ones who held true to themselves!!!

Any Advice you want to share with inspiring models you want to share? Above! Also, if you are ever uncomfortable, don’t be afraid to speak up! The good photographers will always make sure you are comfortable and aware of what’s going on.

Tell us about your experience working with Bill Richards from Okie Studios? Bill was awesome to work with. He has a very laid-back style that makes it easy to shoot with. He has a great eye, and is really creative. He also knows lighting really well (you’d be surprised how many “professionals” I’ve worked with that don’t know how to do this—Bill is exceptionally good!). I would love to shoot with him again!! Oh, he also has great taste in music!

Tell us about your experience working with Bill Richards from Okie Studios? Working with Bill is a lot of fun. His cat is really cute. He makes models feel comfortable in all situations.  Bill was the first photographer I worked with besides my brother.  It was my first implied shoot too.  I ended up feeling great about myself and my body, and got some outstanding pictures to put in my portfolio.  I have shot with quite a few photographers since then, and I still have some of those pics in there.

Shooting with Bill was like shooting with an old friend.  He was engaged, helpful, and VERY respectful to me.  He took my ideas (which are typically outrageous and misguided) and made them edgy and unique.  His reputation and integrity have definitely well deserved.
