Preparing for a shoot

  • Check attitude at the door
  • Arrange ALL aspects of shoot before hand (know whats expected of you)
  • Be on time
  • Be respectful and not demanding
  • Bring two form of ID’s drivers license + one other if you have one
  • Don’t be offended when photographer tries to offer posing ideas
  • Don’t bring escorts that will distract you from the shoot (back seat photographers are never good)
  • Always bring extra shoes, wardrobe, accessories, jewelry and bring extra makeup & product to change hair/make up as well
  • Don’t flake! if you can’t make it contact photographer (preferably by phone) at least a day before scheduled shoot
  • Be ready to work! Don’t just stand there with a blank expression it’s your job to inspire the photographer
  • Look at as many sample photos as possible, make sure you know which poses are going to be expected of you
  • Ask about hair and makeup, should you arrive with it done?
  • Beware of elastic in tight undergarments it leaves lines on your skin(show up with loose clothing)
  • Stay hydrated, drink water (and avoid alcohol) the night before the shoot. This will help your skin bounce backĀ from garment lines.
  • Practice posing at different curves and angles/use a mirror and practice different facial expressions
  • Don’t automatically smile and look at the camera, mix it up a bit
  • In standing poses, rest your weight on one foot or the other, but not evenly
  • In sitting poses, keep your weight on the back hip or thigh to give a slimming effect to the front leg.
  • For some poses you may need to suck in your stomach even if you’re very fit, but don’t hold your breath
